FASTING KILLS, BUT ALSO PRODUCES
God called me to fast in December of 2021. Ever since my first fast, I just cannot believe the growth God has allowed in my life. I feel the weight lifting off of me. Each fast increases in time and severity. But, it is all for me to die to my flesh, and yield to my spirit. It is all for me to become a new creature in Christ daily, each and every time. I thank God for the willingness and obedience that He has given me to bear my cross and strengthen my spiritual man. Fasting is the denial of flesh, it allows you to be in extreme closeness with God, so that you may hear His very still voice. During this time, He may speak, reveal, bless, fight off enemies, strengthen your spirit, and so many other things. I have experienced extreme closeness with God, also extreme distance. But, all in all, God is always with us, if He does not speak directly or if He speaks indirectly. Through fasting, I understand what it means to be obedient and humble before my God. It also makes me realize how special of a gift God gives us to even eat a meal. Fasting is not about anything you want to do, it requires you to spend more time in God, and rest in Him so that He can carry you through and forward. What you give up for God, allows Him to be glorified through your obedience. Fasting kills, but also produces.
