Walking with God causes true humility. You will lose everything you thought you had to have. Walking with the Lord requires true denial, obedience, and honesty:“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23
I have learned the hard way, that if you try to keep the things you gained from the world and serve Christ at the same time, there will always be conflict. I wanted to keep my life, I wanted to hold on to the goodness of God, without having to change. God hated my disobedience, yet still loves me throughout my denial, my wickedness, my worldliness, and brought me back to life. I thank God for teaching me obedience so that I no longer have to be taught with trial.
Sin crept into my life and catalyzed so many of my downfalls, lusts, strongholds, and insecurities. At a point in my life, I was overwhelmed with all the wages of my sin. I could not go on in my own strength, and it became time for me to let go of the wheel. Sadly, sometimes our true surrendering only comes when our back is against the wall. After numerous times of disobedience, you will come to the realization that you have nowhere else to turn, BUT GOD. The freedom when you let go and cast all your burdens and worries onto the Lord is truly the peace that surpasses all understanding. Imagine that weight from everything that you have piled on throughout the course of your life, being lifted: ” Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” 1 Peter 5:7.
Surrender everything onto the Lord, He is always near and will always provide a way through the wilderness. If you never let go, how will you ever experience the true goodness of the Lord and all that He has for you? “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert” Isaiah 43:19
