AFTER THE STORM

“In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.”

1 CORINTHIANS 8:2

I was driving on my way home from work, and it was so dark and gloomy. The traffic was moving, but it was just dark, which put me in a rut. It never looked like the sun would come out shining, because of how dark and rainy it looked. In the midst of the storm, the Holy Spirit said there’s a rainbow on the other side of this, and when I hit the exit, there it was. Beholding the glory of God and His promises are different when you finally make it out. You can’t believe there is beauty on the other side of this storm, because of how bad it looks and feels now, but God is making a rainbow at the next corner. Although this was short brief darkness during my car ride, sometimes it feels like decades to get through the wilderness we’re in. It takes so much mental, physical, and emotional endurance to walk through the wilderness for months. You don’t see your promise, yet you still have to believe. You won’t want to keep going, yet you still have to put one foot in front of the other. You won’t be motivated, yet you still have to force yourself to do something. Your faith is being tried every step of the way, and the enemy wants nothing more for you to do than to quit. I know you may want to give up right there at the next stop sign, but hold on to your faith and the promises of God. When I turned the corner there was a big vibrant rainbow, that took away all of the storm surrounding me. God does the same for us, through and after our wilderness. Although you can’t see it, God is working behind all those clouds. Although you can’t feel it, be reminded that God can bring it forth suddenly. Don’t lose hope because it gets hard, work hard because there is hope! The promise sometimes looks stormy and cloudy, but on the other side, believe there is a rainbow waiting for your eyes to behold.
