In order to go forward, you must let go of the things of the past. Stop holding onto old hoodies that your ex gave you, trash it. Stop scrolling through old videos of you and your “get lit” friends, and delete them. You must remove all the things of your past if you’re truly serious about moving forward. In the book of Joshua, the Lord told Joshua and the Israelites to go up to possess the land of Jericho, but not to take with them any of the things that were remaining there. The Lord gave this warning beforehand because He knew how easy it would be to pass through a place, and maybe a memory pops up, or you find an old gift from a past relationship. You still cling to the past and want to move forward at the same, which does not work. Remember Lot’s Wife. The Lord knows exactly what we need to go forward, and what will hinder us as well. The hesitancy in obeying God can be an indication of a tie or allegiance that remains with that person or thing. What came to mind as you read this, what do you need to let go of? Now that you have that in mind ask yourself, do you want to move forward? I am sure this is a no-brainer yes, so take the necessary measures to get up and possess the land. There is so much waiting for you on the other side, but are you willing to let your past keep you stagnant?
